Alaska LNG FERC Schedule – the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) previous notice stated the forecasted schedule was for issuance of a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in February 2019. On February 28, 2019 FERC revised the schedule as follows:
- Draft Environmental Impact Statement – June 2019
- Final Environmental Impact Statement – March 6, 2020
- 90 day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline – June 4, 2020
The U.S. Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; U.S. Coast Guard; Bureau of Land Management; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; National Marine Fisheries Service; National Park Service; and U.S. Department of Energy are cooperating agencies in the preparation of the EIS.
Resolution 2017-01 – On April 13, 2017 the Board of Directors of the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation unanimously passed Resolution 2017-01 approving the submission of an application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, pursuant to Section 3(a) of the Natural Gas Act, to site, construct and operate an integrated LNG project in Alaska.
Application of Alaska Gasline Development Corporation – On April 17, 2017, the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) submitted an application to FERC, pursuant to Section 3(a) of the Natural Gas Act, to site, construct, and operate an integrated LNG project. As part of the Application, AGDC has requested an authorization be issued no later than December 31, 2018.
Notice of Application – Pursuant to section 157.9 of the FERC Commission’s rules within 90 days of this Notice, the Commission staff will issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review. There are two ways to become involved in the Commission’s review of this project which are identified in the Notice of Application.
Draft Environmental Impact Statement – On June 28, 2019 FERC published its Notice of Availability of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Alaska LNG Project proposed by the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation. The draft EIS assesses the potential environmental effects of the construction and operation of the Alaska LNG Project in accordance with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Final Environmental Impact Statement – On March 6, 2020 FERC staff issue the final EIS for the Alaska LNG Project.
FERC Authorization – On May 21, 2020 FERC Commissioners issued an authorization to AGDC to construct and operate the Alaska LNG Project.
